Brian is a Flagstaff, Arizona photographer specializing in action sports and editorial photography. He is currently the Director of Photography at The Lumberjack newspaper. Working as a sports photographer, Brian strives to capture the striking, once in a lifetime moments.  Brian’s favorite style of sports photography is to anticipate the peak moments of celebration and to use movement to show the speed of the action. He started by photographing sports and events in high school for The Sting newspaper at Sedona Red Rock High School. During my time at the Sedona Red Rock News he learned the most important rule of his career: come back with the images or don’t come back at all. While at NAU Brian has photographed sports and editorial assignments. These assignments train him to always be trying to predict where the decisive moment will be. On the sidelines of Big Sky games, he has a keen eye for the moments that are unable to be seen from the stadium seats. While photographing cultural events and protests Brian searches for the moments that tell the emotional side of the story. Whether that’s capturing a moment between a grandmother and her grandchildren at Dia de Los Muertos or showing young protesters engaging with elders to further a cause, Brian looks for the story behind the moment. He prides himself on being the photojournalist that will come back with images unlike those of my competitors.
